Bio Pesticides

Bio Pesticides  are certain types of pecticides derived from such natural materials as animals, plants, becteria and certain minerals.
Trichoderma
Trichoderma is an ecofriendly biological fungicide containing spores and conidia of mycoparasitic fungi Trichoderma viride, having 2 X 108 colony forming units (CFU) per gram. Trichoderma when introduced along with seeds or at root zone protect the seedlings from attack by soil borne pathogens that cause root / collar / stem rots, wilts, damping offs, leaf blights spots etc. and promote healthy growth in early stages of crop.Vigorous growth of biological trichoderma viride fungicide overshadows the pathogenic fungi, who are overpowered and prevented from infecting the plants. Before pathogens attempt infection via germinating seeds or roots they can be suppressed and controlled by various methods.
They have evolved numerous mechanisms for both attack of other fungi and for enhancing plant and root growth such as :
Mycoparasitism, Antibiosis, Competition for nutrients or space, Tolerance to stress through enhanced root and plant development, Solubilization and sequestration of inorganic nutrients, induced resistance Inactivation of the pathogen’s enzymes by secreting certain plant growth stimulating substance.
Fluorescens-P
Fluorescens-P is an ecofriendly biological fungicide based on Pseudomonas fluorescens highly active on root and stem rots, Sheath blights / leaf spots, mildews and other fungal diseases. Pseudomonas fluorescens P acts on the hyphae of plant pathogens by enzymes and antagonism. Seed treatment with Pseudomonas fluorescens fungicide provides a protective zone around seeds.
Beauveria Bassiana
Beauveria bassiana is a fungus which causes a disease known as the white muscadine disease in insects. When spores of fungus beauveria bassiana come in contact with the cuticle (skin) of susceptible insects, they germinate and grow directly through the cuticle to the inner body of their host. The beauveria bassiana fungus proliferates throughout the insect’s body, producing toxins and draining the insect of nutrients, eventually killing it. Therefore, unlike bacterial and viral pathogens of insects, Beauveria and other fungal pathogens infect the insect with contact and do not need to be consumed by their host to cause infection.
Once the fungus has killed it’s host, it grows back out through the softer portions of the cuticle, covering the insect with a layer of white fungi(hence the name white muscadine disease). This downy mold produces millions of new infective spores that are released to the environment.
Beauveria is a naturally occurring fungus in soils throughout the world, and has been researched for control and management of soil borne insects. Many soil insects, however, may have a natural tolerance to this pathogen, which is not exhibited in many foliar pests. Therefore, commercial development of this fungus for biological control has primarily been targeted against foliar feeding pests.
Spider
Spider is ecofriendly biological insecticide based on naturally occurring entomo-pathogenic fungus Verticillium lecanii. Spider is mainly recommended for greenhouse whitefly, thrips and aphids. When Spider is sprayed on insects, the insect gets pathogenised and killed. The spores of Verticillium lecanii are slimy & get attached to the cuticle of the insects on contact. The fungus infects insects by producing hyphae from germinating spores that penetrate the insect's integument, the fungus then destroys the internal contents and the insect dies. Verticillium lecanii is known as a "white-halo" fungus because of the white mycelial growth on the edges of infected scale insects.
Azadirachtin
Azadirechtin pesticide is eco-safe Azadirachtin (Neem) based botanical pesticide belonging Tetranotriterpenoid groups, which is effective against wide range of pests. Azadirechtin has the unique quality of breaking the resistance developed by major pests against chemical pesticides. Research has shown that Neem can control nearly 200 species of insects. It is significant that some of these pests are resistant to pesticides, or are inherently difficult to control with conventional pesticides (floral thrips, diamond back moth & several leaf miners). Neem effectively controls common pests like Thrips, Whitefly, Leaf folder, Bollworms, Aphids, Jassids, Pod borer, Fruit borer, Stem borer, Leafhopper, Caterpillars, Diamond back moth. Thus Neem is a broad spectrum pesticide and even compatible with most chemical pesticides. Neem works as insecticide by intervening at several stages of the life of an insect. It may not kill the pests instantaneously but incapacitate it in several other ways. Azadirechtin botanical insecticide acts in various ways like as antifeedant, as repellent, as growth inhibitor and also has ovi-position deterrent effect.
